COT I human DNA

The COT I human DNA is used as a blocking reagent for applications like:

  • in situ hybridizations,
  • microarrays,
  • filter hybridizations and
  • comparative genomic hybridization (CGH).

The COT I DNA is prepared from male humen placental DNA, exclusively. The COT I DNA fraction consists mainly of rapidly annealing repetitive elements. These interspersed repetitive sequences (IRS), such as SINEs (small interspersed repetitive elements, e.g., Alu elements) and LINEs (large interspersed repetitive elemnets, e.g., L1 elements), are distributed ubiquitously throughout the genome.
